If you want to leave in search of the sun which is starting to be sorely missed by those in the northern countries, February is such a great month.
Burma (Myanmar)
As you enter February with the coming two months arguably the best time of the year to visit Myanmar, things continue to improve. The higher number of visitors is of course the downside to the great weather and, whilst these are anything but excessive, in some key destinations, the limited option of hotels means that to avoid disappointment, it is necessary to book early. With no rain predicted throughout the month and the chilly winter feel in the highlands now a thing of the past (there is still a bit of a chill in early mornings in places), it is possible to expect premium traveling conditions across the country.
The beaches along the west coast and in the south will be basking in sunshine. Even though more manageable than in the months to come, the central plains will also be dry and hot. Around Inle Lake and Shan region, the temperature can still be a little fresh in the evenings, so it is well worth packing a jumper while the chill has been lifted off the foothills.
Temperatures in the northern and eastern highlands will be in the high 20’s°C and in the lowlands average highs of 32°C. In these parts, it can still be a little chilly in the evenings.
Cambodia
With excellent weather experienced throughout Cambodia, it is all good news in February. You can expect temperatures to gradually rise throughout the month as the hottest months of the year are just around the corner. In spite of this, averaging around 27°C across the country, February is considered to be relatively cool. Travel to Cambodia
Even though lunch time shade is still most welcome, dry days and pleasant temperatures make long days at the Angkor complex and exploring the north east regions of Ratanakiri and Mondulkiri much more manageable.
During this month, the south coast beaches of Kep, Sihanoukville and Koh Rong witness plenty of sunshine with chances of rain extremely unlikely. With good visibility and warm sea temperatures, especially around the tropical islands of Koh Rong Samloem and Koh Rong, February continues to offer excellent conditions for diving.
Laos
As dry season continues, the weather conditions in February are similar to January throughout Laos. Low rainfall and sunny dry days make February a great time of year to visit Laos.
At this time, whilst in the 4000 islands and Pakse in southern Laos, it is slightly warmer and highs of 30°C are not uncommon, Luang Prabang and Vientiane experience pleasant, moderate temperatures (average temp of 24°C).
If you plan to travel to the Northern Laos, dry days and (relatively) cool temperatures make February a suitable month for trekking in Phongsali, Muang La and Luang Namtha, even though, at night, temperatures can drop and it is recommended to bring with you suitable warm clothing.
Vietnam
February’s conditions are at their very best with dry, bright weather expected along the entire length of the country making it amongst the best months to travel in Vietnam. With central and southern parts all enjoying premium conditions for sun worshipers, there are a number of great beach options. In the mountains and highlands, good trekking and adventure-activity conditions return whilst at Vietnam’s northern end, skies are clear with just a little rain expected.
