Day 1: Pakse – Champassak
Arrival in Pakse. Then we will go for lunch at Nadao before heading to the Pre-Angkorian temple of Wat Phou. Drive from Pakse and travel along the Mekong River to Champassak. Here we visit the sacred Khmer temple of Wat Phu. This complex represents the most eastern border of the Khmer Empire in the 4th century. Later in the afternoon check in at your hotel.

Day 2: Champassak – Bolaven tour
After breakfast, drive towards Paksong and the Bolavens Plateau that was part of the Ho Chi Minh Trails network during the second Indochina war. Our ride will offer us the opportunity to discover tea & coffee plantations and to observe some process to dry and fermentation of the beans and the leaves. Then, drive to the Tad Fane twin waterfall with a 120m jump over the rainforest before having lunch and time to relax at Tad Yuang waterfall.
We continue our trip for around another hour to reach Ban Phou Oy to visit Jhai coffee fair trade farmers coop on the Plateau. Be a witness of the processing of the coffee beans from planting to roasting and the final cup.
In the evening home-stay in the villagers house where you will enjoy a dinner and a baci ceremony to welcome and bless you.

Day 3: Bolaven tour- Tad Lo
After breakfast, we will continue our trip to Ban Nong Luang, a village on the edge of Dong Hua Sao Protected Area. A new local guide will lead us for a trek to the Dan Noy limestone cliffs to enjoy beautiful views over Champassak province and an really rare 1000 years rosewood tree. Then, a short and easy trek will lead you to the Tad Chet Chanh waterfall to chill out in a nice site. Lunch on the spot before returning to the vehicle.
In the afternoon, we will drive to the Tad Lo Resort. Visit of Salavan (25km) where you could meet the MAG-UXO team and learn about landmine clearance in Laos (subject to availability of the staff). Then, we will head towards our resort for the night.

Day 4: Bolaven tour- Tad Lo
After breakfast, a full day excursion will afford us to meet local communities. Our first meeting will be focused in coffee field and a coffee cup in Ban Suanone before heading for our walk along an escarpment that will bring us to different waterfalls very few attended by tourist: Tad Malai, Tad Maihai where the views are scenic.
Short break near Houay Tamla stream to refresh as well. Once in Ban Khannouane, visit of a holy cave before having lunch in the surroundings from a the top of a hill overlooking the region… before continuing to the Cave of the Tiger and the Mount Phou Tak Khao.
Then meeting with sugarcane farmer to learn more about this product and how it’s transformed by locals and what is the market for such product. The next encounter will be with cardamoms and peanuts producer.
Once we reach the main road, our vehicle will be awaiting us to return to your lodge.

Note: 4-5 hours trekking (easy)
Day 5: Bolaven tour
After breakfast, time to enjoy waterfalls in the vicinity of the lodge: Tad Lo, Tad Hang & Tad Suong. You will be able to enjoy some free time to swim at the falls. Lunch will be hold at the resort.
In the afternoon, ride to Thatheng where you will visit some mulberries farms and learn more on silk production in Laos. Our journey will be mainly focused to visit some ethnic village along the 20km long laterite road that runs between Thatheng and Ban Beng. This road passes through several ethnic villages: Katu, Alak, Lavens. Should be lucky we will be able to meet some of them with tattoos on their bodies. Then ride to Sinouk Resort at Ban Lakkhao.

Day 6: Bolaven – Sekong – Attapeu
After breakfast, we will pursue towards Sekong. Along the way, we will stop in some ethnic villages, and stop at several waterfalls close to Sekong, on the edge of the Bolovens Plateau: Tad Hia, Tad Faek & Tad Se Noi. Picnic lunch will be organized there, possibility to relax and to swim. Then we will enter right in the heart of the Plateau to watch one of the most beautiful waterfalls of the country, in the middle of the jungle at Nam Tok Katamtok, into an unspoiled and pristine area. It’s just impressive.
Then pursue towards Attapeu.
Overnight in Attapeu.

Day 7: Attapeu – departure towards Vietnam
Breakfast at hotel, then drive towards Vietnam. After around 35km, you will pass the Nam Pa River and reach the village of Paam where you will meet the recent history of the region along the Ho Chi Minh Trail where you still can see some remnants of the second Indochina war with some Russian military equipments. Arrival at the overland border crossing point of Phou Khoua/ Bo Y (Attention no visa on arrival in Vietnam, you should have it in advance). Your guide will help you to cross the border and reach the Vietnamese side.
