In spite of the climate varying, Thailand is a place to visit at any time of year. The cool and dry season between November and early April is the best time to travel. In the Southern Thailand, the climate significantly differs between the western and eastern coasts. The weather in the west coast is more favorable during the winter months making it suitable time for snorkelling and diving. With the lowest rainfall in January and February and the highest in November, the weather on the east coast is good for most of the year. You can view: Indochina tours Thailand
Weather in Thailand
The majority can best be described as humid and tropical during most of the year. The southern peninsular region of Thailand has only two seasons while the area north of Bangkok has a climate determined by three.
The seasons in the northern region of this country are defined clearly. Though the weather between November and May is mostly dry, this is broken up into the periods of March – May and November – February. Even though the northeast monsoon does not make a direct influence on the northern are, it causes cooling breezes from November to February. Therefore, the period from March to May has the higher relative temperatures.
From May to November is the other northern season dominated by the southwest monsoon. During this period, rainfall in the Northern Thailand is at its heaviest.
There are actually two seasons in the southern region: the wet season and the dry one. However, both of the west and east sides of the peninsula do not have these seasons at the same time. On the east coast the most rain falls between September and December while on the west coast the southwest monsoon brings rain and often heavy storms from April through to October.
Overall, compared with the northern and central regions, both of which get around 1,400 millimetres, the southern parts get by far the most rain, with around 2,400 millimetres every year. Thailand travel tours
Best time to visit Thailand
Depending exactly on where you are going, the answer to the best time to visit Thailand varies. The rainy season on the islands on one side of the country is slightly different from those on the other; the interesting news is that this extends the sunny, dry season in this country. So if you are unlucky to be in a rainy and grey place, let’s take a short hop over the coast to sunshine on the other side!
Over on the west coast and the Andaman Sea – where you can find the Thai islands of KOH PHI PHI, KOH LANTA, PHUKET, KRABI – the most favorable time for a beach holiday is slightly earlier, in December and January, when minimum rainfall, maximum sunshine and fresher weather combine to make it the best weather for an awesome beach holiday.
Meanwhile, practically all the time, BANGKOK capital city is stultifyingly humid, but December and January, when it is dry and a relatively bearable 31-32ºC average during the day, and 20ºC at night is the best time to visit Thailand’s capital. When not to go to the capital: avoid the months of April, when it is unbearably hot and humid and September, when it is humid, hot and torrentially wet.
In Chiang Mai and the little yet lovely town of PAI, in the cooler northern Thailand, you can enjoy much more pleasant climates than the capital city and the Southern Thailand. For lovely sunny days (around 29ºC) and cooler evenings, go from December to February. However, if you are trekking, dig out some warm clothes as the temperature dips to 13ºC – and even lower in the highlands.
The rainy season, from May to October, when monsoons blow in from all directions, is not the time to go to Thailand.
