Up the road from Café Mango is Nice Foods, an unpretentious locally owned restaurant that features a varied menu of western fares such as pizzas, fried and burgers together with more authentic dishes such as Khmer curry, fried rice and noodle soup. Prices expect to start from as low as $1.25 (and 50 cents if you just want steamed rice or a plain baguette) which will get you a pad thai, a burger or noodle soup. Ochheuteal Street is a place which houses a plethora of BBQ restaurants all featuring a similar menu; all that competition means that prices are quite low and for around $3.50, you can enjoy a hearty dinner with a drink. Most offer a wide array of seafood and meats such as: fresh tuna, marlin, pork steaks, local beef steak and ribs cooked fresh to order. You can have whole fresh snapper from around $7 or imported Australian steak for $9 if you want to spend a little more. There, they will serve meals with a choice of salad or rice and either fries or baked potato, and in most places, some free garlic bread is thrown in. Even though the menu changes monthly, some recent dishes on offer included are a huge fish and chips, BBQ chicken and chicken tacos. Popular with local expats, Snooky’s Bar and Bistro has a reputation to provide large portions. For a couple more dollars they also have regular BBQ nights with dishes starting from $4.75, all of which are served with a potato salad or a jacket potato and their signature garden pasta salad — crab heaven!

CP Five Star on Ekareach Street is the place to go for those who fancy something finger licking good but do not want to visit Sihanoukville’s new KFC. Just a stall but they have some seating behind, it does not look like much — but at only 3,500 riel (around 80 cents) per generously sized piece, their fried chicken is delicious and incredible value. You are free to choose from original or spicy coating and you know it is fresh as they mostly cook to order. Here, several other dishes such as meatballs and hot dogs which look intriguing are also available.
