Buffet is the best choice here. Any large booths have a board with title “Welcome to Luang Prabang Buffet”, “Please take a saucer and pay 10,000 and remember to pay before eating”.
Each large booth has lot of brass or food trays made from all kinds of vegetables and noodles, macaroni, vermicelli. You only select a full plate of your favorite foods and please pay only 10,000 kip (USD$1 = 8,000 kip).
Beside buffet, hardly any customers can skip the baked booths. You have to pay 10 000 kip – a fixed price for one skewer with many kinds of food such as grilled sausage, bacon, grilled rib, grilled chicken wings and grilled quail.

Tam-mak-hung salad is also tourists’ favorite food in Luang Prabang night market. The salad stalls are nice presented. Sellers put the salad ingredients in a small wooden boat or wooden frames divided into compartments. Mixed salad juice is in small jars. People in Luang Prabang eat salt and use a lot of herbs, especially lemon trees. This is also one of the important ingredients making this salad with tamarind, eggplant, lemon, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, beans, garlic, papaya fibroblasts.
The best sellers here is Laos beer with 8 000 kip for a small bottle, 10 000 kip for a large one.
In the end of night market, there is a food alley with lots of foods. Not only traditional Laos foods but also foods from China, Thailand attract you.
The communicating and purchasing here are so easy because most of sellers can speak in English. And in case you do not speak in English, don not worry, each seller has a calculation. You can click your expecting price and show it to sellers. Although price here is quite low, remember to bargain usually, you could pay down up to half when shopping here. Local people are gentle, they often discount the price and even if you buy or not, they are happy.
